Assistant Group Counselors
Assistant Group Counselors should have previous experience working with children and must be effective leaders and role models. Assistant Group Counselors spend the day with a group of 15 campers and are responsible for working with the Group Counselor in planning activities as well as supervising the campers. Assistant Group Counselors will supervise campers at activity areas, on daily bus routes, and/or assist with before/after camp care
Assistant Group Counselor: $710/wk, 43 hrs/wk
Assistant Group & Bus Counselor: $775/wk, 47 hrs/wk
Prerequisites:
- Graduated from High School (by start of camp)
- Youth leadership experience
- Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR Certifications
- Ability to swim
Lifeguards
Roughing It will sometimes hire additional lifeguards to assist in guarding duties at our swimming pool. All of our swimming staff/counselors are certified lifeguards, and generally fulfill supervision and lifeguarding duties during the camp day. Roughing It will reimburse the cost of ARC Lifeguard Training and may have available training classes before the start of summer.
Prerequisites:
- Minimum age 18
- High School Diploma
- Good swimmer
- ARC Lifeguard Certification (Roughing It will reimburse and may have course available)
Maintenance Worker
The maintenance worker is responsible for maintaining all areas of camp. Duties include: keeping sites clean, delivering supplies to activity areas, running errands, and outdoor repair projects. This staff member may also be asked to assist the transportation coordinator in vehicle maintenance of camp vans, buses, and trucks. Prior experience in these areas of work is not necessary but beneficial.

- Excellent Driving Record
- Able to lift 50 lbs.

Media Assistant
The Media Assistant is responsible for organizing and editing camp newsletters and photos. This person will create content for the camp newsletter, blogs, and social media and will edit content written by counselors. The Media Assistant will take photos and upload them to the web, and record and upload videos. This person will organize the photos and newsletter section of our website into a user-friendly interface for all of our campers and parents. The Media Assistant must have excellent writing skills and be computer literate in Photoshop and all basic Windows programs.
Prerequisites:
- Minimum age 18 (by start of summer)

- Valid Drivers License
- Excellent Driving Record
- Excellent editing and writing skills
- Experience using Canva, Lightroom, Photoshop, or similar programs

Office Assistants
Office Assistants work in the camp office and are responsible for answering phones, taking messages and/or camper registrations, running errands as needed, and completing other tasks assigned by camp administrators. Office Assistants should have excellent communication/phone skills, have the ability to type accurately and quickly, and should possess a good knowledge of computers and use of the Internet. Occasionally they will drive between the summer office and reservoir to deliver or pick up supplies or transport staff as needed.
