Samuel Anderson
Unit Leader/ Unit 1, 3rd Year Staff Member, CPR, First Aid
University of Colorado Boulder, Journalism
Sam is joining us for his third year at Roughing It as a unit leader! He currently attends the University of Colorado Boulder, and is studying journalism with plans to work in media production. During the school year he spends his time working at the CU Bookstore, and enjoys hiking, playing soccer, and hanging out with friends in his spare time. We are happy to have Sam back this year!
Elizabeth "Tia" Butler
Group Counselor, 2nd Year Staff Member
University of California, Berkeley, Media Studies, Journalism
Tia is back for her second year as a group counselor at Roughing It! Tia just completed her first year at UC Berkeley, where she plans on choosing a major in either Media Studies or Journalism. She loves to travel, and this past year she had the opportunity to visit some fellow staff members at their colleges in Boston and New York. Tia is excited to bring her enthusiasm and love for the outdoors back to camp this summer!
Catherine Carey
Group Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member
California State University, Chico, Healthcare Administration
Catherine is joining us for her first summer at Roughing It! She recently graduated from California State University, Chico with her Bachelor of Science in healthcare administration. She achieved honors within her major and competed in an academic competition against other undergraduate healthcare administration programs in the state. Growing up, Catherine has participated in various competitive sports including soccer, volleyball, Irish dancing, and track and field. Catherine is excited to bring her dedication, creativity, and fun spirit to camp each day!
Katie Christensen
Group Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member
Utah State University, Elementary Education
We are happy to welcome Katie to Roughing It this summer! She currently attends Utah State University and is majoring in elementary education, with plans to become a teacher. Growing up, Katie participated in many youth events with her church, and has always enjoyed children. She is excited to bring her skills to Roughing It this summer and make some fun camp memories!
Emma Grove
Group Counselor, 3rd Year Staff Member
Glasgow University, Music, Psychology
Emma is returning for her third year as a group counselor at Roughing It! She attended Roughing It for 11 years, and is happy to be back! She currently attends Glasgow University in Scotland, where she is studying music and psychology to become a music therapist. This year she has been on exchange in Kingston, Ontario, Canada! She also spent time recently traveling in South East Asia. She has enjoyed being able to travel and learn about different cultures, while keeping up with her studies. We’re excited to have Emma back this summer!
Annalise Inamine
Group Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member
American University of Paris, International Business
We are happy to welcome Annalise to the Roughing It staff this summer! She attends the American University of Paris in France, and will be transferring to Boston University. She is majoring in international business. She has been a member of the green club and student leadership club, and has worked as an intern for Stanford Graduate School of Education. Annalise has also done volunteer work with Jewish Family and Community Services. Annalise is excited to meet all of the campers this summer!
Charlie Kimball
Group Counselor, 3rd Year Staff Member
Oberlin College and Conservatory, English
Charlie is back for his third summer at Roughing It! He currently attends Oberlin College and Conservatory and is studying English. In high school, Charlie joined a cycling team called Tieni Duro, where he participated in races and eventually became the president of his school’s cycling club! Having found a great appreciation for music, he joined the Berkeley Jazz School Summer Intensive where he played the jazz guitar. This past year he has been working at his school’s writing center helping other students develop their writing skills. He is currently preparing for his senior thesis, and is excited to do plenty of reading this summer. Charlie can’t wait to see all of the campers again!
Daniella McDonagh
Group Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member
University of San Diego, Political Science, English
Danni is joining us for her first summer at Roughing It! She was a Junior Counselor at Roughing It and is now back as a group counselor! She attends the University of San Diego and is majoring in political science with a minor in English, on the pre-law track. She has worked as a full-time nanny, as well as an after-school daycare assistant at a local elementary and middle school. Danni is excited to create meaningful memories with the campers this summer!
Torez Ramsey
Group Counselor, 2nd Year Staff Member
College of Saint Rose, Biology
Torez is back for her second year at Roughing It as a Group Counselor! She currently attends the College of Saint Rose in New York, and is studying biology with hopes of becoming a physical therapist. She plays soccer for her college and was a camp counselor for Outdoor Ed while she was in high school. Torez is excited to see all of the campers this summer and create some more fun memories!
Kyle Wallace
Group Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member
University of California, San Diego, Human Biology
Kyle is joining us for his first year at Roughing It as a Group Counselor! Kyle attends the University of California, San Diego and is studying human biology, with plans on going into anesthesiology. He was a Junior Counselor at the Painted Turtle Summer Camp, and went to various other camps as a child. Kyle was in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Eagle Scouts, and was able to learn many outdoor skills from his experiences. At UCSD, he is a member of Phi Delta Theta and serves as the Phikeia Scholarship Chair. We can’t wait for Kyle to bring his leadership and outdoor skills to Roughing It!
