Free Camp for Your Kids
For parents: your children can attend Roughing It Day Camp for free (up to 8 weeks) when you work year-round and the complete summer. Camp tuition is valued at up to $9,000 per child.

Work Schedule
School-Year Season: This is a part-time job during the school year (non-summer months). A typical work schedule is Mon-Fri 10am-2pm (20 hours/week). We are flexible with creating a work schedule that takes into account your other commitments while remaining consistent week to week. Positions require constant communication with parents and staff, so hours should be scheduled during the work day.
Summer Season: Hours increase during the busy summer season, June – August, to 30-40 hours/week. A typical summer work schedule is Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm with 1/2 hour lunch.
Hybrid Work: Work virtually and in-person at our office during the school year. More in-person work can be expected at the start of the position to account for in-person training. The position is fully in-person during the summer season. Our offices are located in Lafayette with easy access from the freeway.

We are now hiring for the following year-round, part-time positions:
Office Administrative Assistant
The Office Administrative Assistant is a part-time position and a key part of Roughing It Day Camp’s year-round team. This position communicates daily with both camp families and staff, registers campers, assists with marketing, customer service, and a variety of office support services.
HR Assistant
The HR Assistant is a part-time position that assists with the hiring and onboarding of staff. This person is often the first point of contact for candidates seeking employment at Rouging It. HR Assistants communicate daily with both camp staff and camper families.
Web Application Developer
The Web Application Developer is responsible for designing, coding, and modifying websites and web applications, from layout to function, according to approved specifications. The applicant should have strong PHP, MySQL, Linux, and Windows expertise. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of web development principles, database architecture, and experience working on a variety of web projects.
Marketing Assistant
The Marketing Assistant helps communicate with camper families through various forms of media, creating and managing content, as well as assisting with general office duties and projects. They also help in marketing and communication areas, including analytics and inbound marketing.
Management Intern
This is a great option for students looking to gain insight and develop the business skills required “behind the scenes” to run a successful recreation and outdoor program. You will gain experience with camp systems and will be well trained in customer service and problem solving. The intern must commit to working through the upcoming summer.
Recreation Management
This is a great internship for Parks and Recreation majors looking to gain insight and develop the business skills required “behind the scenes” to run a successful recreation and outdoor program. You will gain experience with camp database and registration software and will be well-trained in customer service and problem solving.
Camp Business Administration
Use various software and database programs to process new registrations, track enrollment, order supplies, and manage receipts and statements. You will supervise staff both in the office and “in the field” and will provide feedback and written evaluations to your employees.
Freelance Writer/Editor
Roughing It Day Camp occasionally hires a freelance content editor/writer for blogs, articles, posts and camp pieces. Ideally someone with an appreciation of the outdoors and /or summer camps.
