5th Grade through CILT (Unit 2)

Abby Post

Unit 2 Leader, 6th Year Staff Member

Abby is returning this year as a part-time Unit Leader. Abby was the Unit leader last summer. This will be Abby’s 16th year at camp! She began her career at Roughing It as a First Grade (G1) camper and went on to become a CILT and Jr Counselor. Abby graduated from Skidmore College last May in New York and plans to be a physical therapist. Abby is a welcoming hand to new staff and assists all the group counselors in organizing activities, teaching staff the RI way, helping campers try new things and grow, and especially to help make camp fun!

Ally Petek

CILT Group Counselor & Assistant Unit Leader, 2nd Year Staff Member
UC Santa Barbara — Law major

Ally is returning for her third summer at Roughing It. She grew up in Orinda, CA and is a rising senior at UC Santa Barbara, studying Law and is captain of her Debate Team. As a kid, she attended many day and overnight camps, and remembers how special and exciting camp-life always was. She loves spending time with kids and being outdoors. Ally was the sports counselor and then Girls Junior High Counselor at Roughing It in the summer of 2023. Now, she is assisting campers in the CILT program to become leaders at camp and is on our administrative team as Assistant Unit Leader.

Miles Corcoran

B4 & B56 Group Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member
University of Wisconsin

This is Miles’s first summer at Roughing It. He played soccer throughout high school and even refereed. He is currently attending the University of Wisconsin. Miles has a love for the outdoors and enjoys camping and being a part of the community. He is looking forward to creative a positive environment for campers this summer.

Luke Jenny

B4 & B56 Assistant Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member
UC Santa Cruz – Psychology major

Luke is joining us for the first time this year after finishing his first year at UC Santa Cruz. He is from Walnut Creek and has experience from attending Camp Wente. Luke was a lifeguard and swim instructor at Splash Swim School, in addition to being a boy scout. Luke is excited to bring his expertise to camp this summer and meet all the campers!

Hannah Jackson

G4 Group Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member
Northeastern University – Biology major

Hannah is joining us on staff for her first time this summer. She is from Orinda, and just finished up her first year at Northeastern University, where she is studying biology. She has spent five summers at sleepaway camp, and enjoys playing lacrosse, which she pursued for three years during high school. Hannah is thrilled to be spending this summer sharing her love for the outdoors with the campers!

Mia Bracco

G4 Assistant Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member
Occidental College

Mia is joining Roughing It for her first summer! She is heading to Occidental College after the summer. Mia has done a 26 –day backpacking trip in Death Valley and had the opportunity to learn Wilderness Safety. Mia has grown up playing a variety of sports, including soccer, lacrosse, ski team, and tennis. She is thrilled to be a positive role model for campers this summer!

Izzy Mueller

G56 Group Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member

This is Isabel’s first summer with Roughing It. Izzy has just finished up her student teaching and is excited to embark on a teaching career. She has finished her teaching credential and will be returning to Cal Poly Pomona for her master’s in education. Izzy attended Girl Scout Camp growing up. She is excited to create amazing experiences for campers this summer.

Emma Hunt

G56 Assistant Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member
Cal Poly – Political Science major

Emma is here for her first summer at Roughing It but is a second generation Roughing It counselor! Emma attends Cal Poly University in San Luis Obispo, where she studies Political Science. She is a member of both the debate team and the club swim team for Cal Poly and is excited to bring the skills she has gained from these to the reservoir. She is a Lafayette native and has strong camp experience, and we are thrilled to welcome her this summer.

Graham McWeeny

B56 Assistant Counselor, 2nd Year Staff Member
Colorado College — Organismal Biology and Ecology major

Graham is currently a student at Colorado College where he is planning to major in organismal biology and ecology. In his free time, he likes to ski every weekend and he plays on Colorado College’s D-3 ultimate frisbee team. Graham was inspired to become a summer camp counselor because of the profound impact that camp counselors had on him while he attended Camp Augusta, theater camps, and sports camps. Their commitment and awesome attitude helped him grow and develop, and left a lasting impression on him that he hopes he can do that for our campers here at Roughing It!

Alex King Evans

JHB Group Counselor, 3rd Year Staff Member
UC San Diego – Data Science major

Alex is coming back for his 16th summer at Roughing It! He was a camper (incl. a CILT & JC) for 12 years before joining our staff two years ago. He did an incredible job as the B23 Group Counselor and moved into the Waterfront Director position summer 2022. We’re excited to have him back this summer as Junior High Boys counselor! Alex transferred from Diablo Valley College to UC San Diego with a major in data science, and just finished his first year in San Diego.

Ezra Chesluk

Drexel University – Game Design major

Ezra is joining us for the first time this summer and is excited to meet the campers! He is from Berkeley, and just wrapped up his first year at Drexel University where he studies Game Design. Ezra enjoys cooking and exploring the outdoors, in addition to swimming. Ezra attended different camps growing up. He is excited to create an inclusive and fun camp experience for our campers this summer!

Rochelle Cloven

Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo – Business major

Rochelle is enjoying her second summer here at Roughing It. She currently is attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where she loves to be outside in the SLO area. Rochelle has a ton of swim team experience and has a scuba certification! Her outgoing and adventurous personality fits in well at camp. She is excited to return and make this summer one to remember!

Sofia Slavonia

JHG Counselor, 2nd Year Staff Member

Vassar College- Environmental Sciences and Biology major

Sofia is joining us for the second time this summer as a staff member but was a camper for about 10 years! With lots of camp experience and a love for the outdoors, Sofia is a great addition to our team. Sofia just finished up her first year at Vassar college and is excited to get the chance to spend more time with the campers this summer.

Maya Jackson

JHG Assistant Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member

San Diego State University

This is Maya’s first summer at Roughing It. Maya is from San Francisco and is currently attending San Diego State. Maya has experience working at Bay Club working with kids in a variety of activities. She enjoys hiking, backpacking, and spending time outdoors. Maya’s diverse experience will be a great addition to camp this summer!

Nick Escalada

Assistant Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member

Cal Poly Humboldt – Wildlife Management & Conservation major

This is Nick’s first summer at Roughing It. Nick is currently attending Cal Poly Humboldt and studying Wildlife Management and Conservation. He has experience backpacking, several canoe weeklong canoe trips, and played a variety of sports growing up. Nick also was an eagle scout, where he led his troop in different outdoor activities. Nick’s excited to have a great time at camp this summer!
