Highlights of the day included outdoor cooking and shelter building.
At outdoor cooking, campers learned about staying safe around a fire and safety equipment that is needed when a fire is burning. We then got down to the business of making banana boats. We sliced our bananas lengthwise and stuffed them with chocolate chips and marshmallows. After they we covered with aluminum foil, we set them in the coals to cook. Once everything inside had melted, our banana boats were ready to eat. They were delicious!
Campers also learned how to build a shelter using just traps and rope. They did an excellent job working together to secure the ropes to the trees using knots Calder had taught them. They were able to be creative and find materials to stake down the corners of the tarp.
Stay tuned for the Outback Day recap!
