Today was Outback Day in Outdoor Explorers. Outback Day is a day when choice periods are a bit longer so campers can really get into an activity, go on a longer hike, complete a special challenge, do a more in-depth craft, or fish from another dock around the reservoir. Today campers did lots of fishing, hiking, rowing, and crafts.
We had five campers and a trusty counselor hike all the way around the outside rim trail of the reservoir. They took their lunches to eat on the way and found a bench with a great view to enjoy their lunch. Campers seemed to be in great spirits when they returned and even wanted to hike some more! Congrats to Hannah, Nathan, Bailey, Issac, and Richard!
The clouds made for some great views down on the fishing dock as well. While we still haven’t hooked Big Fred, campers persevered through the wind and were as patient as ever.
Kate also did a learn-to-knit choice clinic. Campers did some finger knitting and those that wanted more of a challenge were able to knit using pencils in place of knitting needles. I could see real progress. They will be ready to make hats and sweaters in no time!
See everyone tomorrow for our final day of the session!
